Look Ten Years Younger

Table of Contents

Whether you are a man or a woman no one wants to look old. So, once the day comes when you look in the mirror and start to see those first signs of wrinkles and aging skin your life changes forever as you see what are probably the first actual indications that you are mortal and that you will not look young and vibrant forever.

Unfortunately, this realization that we eventually all come to is nothing new as everyone who has ever lived long enough to see these changes occur in every civilization since the beginning of time has had to deal with this, too. And, since no one was happy about it even in the earliest days of humanity, there has always been a robust market for products which may have been as simple as some raw plant or extracts back at the beginning to what we all have access to now which can be some pretty complicated and highly processed options.

The main thing to keep in mind is that there have always been some things that could be done to help men and women keep their skin looking and feeling healthy and youthful. It's just that many of those secrets were generally known to healers who tended to really only deal with people who were wealthy enough to pay them for their very valuable services. That is, until it became possible to mass produce some of their most effective treatments which allowed them to sell them to a much wider group of consumers.

Ironing Out The Wrinkles

Wouldn't it be great if it were as easy as that? Still, the point here is that in order to understand how one can make aging skin look and feel younger again it is important to know why skin begins to lose its vibrancy and elasticity in the first place. To understand that we have to look to the science of aging.

For one thing, as we all age our skin begins to naturally get drier, thinner and less able to protect itself for damage from the elements such as UV rays. This failure to prevent more damage only accelerates the problems. Add to that the unavoidable use of facial muscles which allow us all to smile and make other expressions which are an essential part of being human and what one ends up with is a set of lines that appear and grow deeper and more pronounced as we make the same expressions over and over again throughout our lives.

There are also a number of environmental factors which we do have some control over such as diet and, even more so, smoking which further works to dry the skin which only compounds the problems further. The real damage is done when all of these factors come together in a sustained attack on the collagen that we all have in our cells.

For those who may not be familiar with the important role that collagen plays in our bodies, the simplest way to explain it is that collagen is a naturally produced protein that we need in high quantities as it acts as the glue that holds our bodies together. And, as we begin to naturally lose the ability to produce it we generally begin to see the signs of aging. And, this occurs in every part of our bodies and not just in the skin. But we tend to notice this degradation in our skin because it's the part of us that we can see on a daily basis.

Stopping The Damage

If one looks back at the history of skin care and skin repair one can see that this sector of medicine and therapy has just as horrifying a past as all of the other areas of medicine. This simply means that, over the centuries, quacks and serious researchers alike tried all kinds of crazy or improbable solutions just out of sheer desperation because the population, especially among aging women would never stop looking for a cure for the issue that was stealing their youth.

Still, despite of and, in a way, because of all of this history, science and medicine has finally come to a real understanding of the causes dermal breakdown and have developed some actual science based solutions which have been shown to significantly reduce the damage and dramatically slow down the aging process.

Primarily, this is done through the use of Vitamin A in skin care products which are generally referred to as topical retinoids. The only real downside to these types of products is that they tend to make the skin more susceptible to damage from sunlight and UV rays. So, those who choose to use items of this nature need to be sure to employ a stringent skin care program to offset any serious damage.

It should also be noted that some moderate success has been found with the use of retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, coenzyme or Q10, kinetin, copper peptides and other known antioxidants.

The Fountain Of Youth

Although science and medicine have combined to find some rather extraordinary breakthroughs in the research of dermal degradation and ways to prevent some problems and slow down the process in other areas there has not been any real progress when it comes to completely stopping the aging process. Still, there are numerous strategies which can be employed by those who feel the need to stop the aging process in its tracks.

Most of these tactics can be employed through the use of simple and self administered actions such as avoiding direct or sustained exposure to the sun, eating a diet rich in vitamin A and using sunscreen of high strength as often as possible. In fact, with the use of a daily moisturizer with sunscreen, studies have shown a significant reduction in deep lines and crevices especially on facial skin. Furthermore, if cost is not an obstacle to getting the best available skin care, then seeking out specialists or therapists who offer highly beneficial moisturizing and restorative treatments can have a profound effect on the overall slowing of the skin aging process. This is largely the case because many well-established therapies can reduce the loss of collagen and even replace natural collagen with a synthesized version which, despite some issues with initial discomfort following treatments, can make a marked improvement when it comes to filling in deep lines.

In the end, the natural aging process is something that all humans since the beginning of our existence have had to deal with. And, the older we get the more we tend to become aware of the ravages of time on our skin and our bodies as a whole. Still, for those who have a hard time allowing nature to take its course, it is good to know that there are many ways to improve the condition of our skin, including the use of products such as Aquallure Moisturizing Antioxidant Rescue Cream.
